Lots of people bemoan the morally-bankrupt lyrics that fill today’s popular music. Whether it’s Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines,” Lady Gaga singing about a “disco stick,” or just about anything from Miley Cyrus, it seems as though today’s artists are fixated on promoting loose sexual ethics.
Just like musicians did 60 years ago….
Ask church people about their image in the community and they’re likely to reference “hospitals for the sick” or “lighthouses for lost.” Let’s face it; that’s how we like to see ourselves.
But one prostitute in Chicago has a completely different take on Christians and the Church.

Let me ask you a question. If you were in Jesus’ position, contemplating coming to Earth to save people from their sins, and could pick your ancestry, who would you choose? Kings and queens? Military heroes? Famous rabbis?
Well…that’s not exactly how Jesus did it.
Overcoming sin is never an easy task. But overcoming public sin is even more strenuous…especially if you profess to a Christ-follower. By God’s grace, some are able to move beyond their shortcomings. But for others, their sin leads to their downfall.
For Matthew Jarrell, his sin led all the way to his death.

Anyone believing this may be surprised to hear, then, that one of the biggest reasons the church was persecuted by the Romans revolved around their belief that Christians belonged to the most immoral cult in existence!
Sexual sin was a common shortfall amongst characters immortalized in the Bible. Who can forget Samson’s downfall with Delilah, or David’s demise with Bathsheba? Every time a sexual sin was committed, somebody paid a price.
These days, it’s teenage girls who’re paying the price.
